1.1General
TheworkofpreparingCQI9:SpecialProcess:HeatTreatSystemAssessment(HTSA)wascarriedoutthroughtheAIAGHeatTreatWorkGroup.Theseheattreatrequirementsarecomplementarytocustomerandproductstandards.
TheHTSAcanbeusedtoassessanorganization’sabilitytomeettherequirementsinthisassessment,aswellascustomer,regulatory,andtheorganization’sownrequirements.TheHTSAcanalsobeused
betweenanorganizationanditssuppliers.
IntheHTSA,theword“shall”indicatesarequirement.Wheretheterm“suchas”isused,anysuggestionsgivenareforguidanceonly.

1.2ProcessApproach
TheHTSAsupportstheautomotiveprocessapproachasdescribedinISO/TS16949:2002.

1.3HeatTreatSystemAssessmentGoals
ThegoaloftheHTSAisthedevelopmentofaheattreatmanagementsystemthatprovidesforcontinualimprovement,emphasizingdefectpreventionandthereductionofvariationandwasteinthesupplychain.
TheHTSA,coupledwithaninternationallyrecognizedqualitymanagementsystemandapplicablecustomer-specificrequirements,definesthefundamentalrequirementsforheattreatmanagementsystems.
TheHTSAisintendedtoprovideacommonapproachtoaheattreatmanagementsystemforautomotiveproductionandservicepartorganizations.
