F rating tests:

NFX 10-702 – Smoke Emission Test

Specimen requirements – 16 specimens each measuring 76mm x 76mm

• Thickness as in practice but no greater than 19mm

• (where the thickness of the specimen exceeds 19mm, please reduce the thickness to 19mm by removing material from the reverse face of the specimen. That is, keep the side which is likely to be exposed to the fire intact)

Approximate Turnaround – Approximately 2-3 weeks from receipt of specimens

NFX 70-100 – Toxic Gas Emission Test

Specimen requirements – 50 grams of material (supply the sample in the normal / standard thickness)

Approximate Turnaround – 2-3 weeks from receipt of specimens

F rating summary report – Optional

M rating tests:

NFP 97 507 is the classification document that covers the French “M” rating tests (NFP 92 501, NFP 92 503, NFP 92 504, and NFP 92 505.)

* NFP 92-501 – Epiradiateur / NFP 92-503 – Electric Burner test

Specimen requirements – * NFP 92-501 – Epiradiateur

5 specimens each measuring 400mm x 300mm

Specimen requirements – * NFP 92-503 – Electric Burner test

12 specimens each measuring 600mm x 180mm

(6 specimens should be cut in the direction of production and 6 specimens should be cut at 90 degrees to the above)

Approximate Turnaround – 2-3 weeks from receipt of specimens

• PLEASE NOTE – NFP 92-501 This is used to test products of any thickness that are rigid in their end use application and also products that in their end use application are flexible and have a thickness greater than 5 mm. I rating tests:

The NF F 16-101 specification states:

Specialised case of small dimension parts

When the dimensions and the geometrical form of the article do not permit the sampling of the test pieces which are necessary for the determination of the M Classification, according to documentation sheet P92-507, the material is subjected to the following two tests:

BS EN ISO 4589 Part 2 (Oxygen Index) test

BS EN ISO 60695-2-11 (glow wire) test

In other words, when you can’t make specimens for the M Rating tests, you should perform the I Rating tests.

BS EN 60695-2-11 2001 – Glow wire end product test and guidance.

Specimen requirements – 4 specimens. (The test should be performed on the complete product).

Lead Time -Approximately 2-3 weeks after receipt of the specimens.
