Role
This role works closely with suppliers for Tesla vehicle electronic systems to assure incoming reliability meet and maintain at or above Tesla specified targets.
Responsibilities:
? Collaborate and synchronize with the partner Reliability team in the US for consistent reliability practice, methodology, and procedure.
? Set and communicate Reliability requirements and targets and test plans for components, subsystems and assemblies.
? Facilitate Design FMEA sessions in order to drive reliable design choices and improve validation test planning.
? Specify reliability validation plans for externally supplied components and subsystems using a physics of failure approach.
? Provide guidance on sample size requirements and durations for reliability testing by utilizing reliability statistics.
? Influence supplier selection for better quality and reliability assurance and provide clear guidance on reliability requirements and demonstration to suppliers.
? Partner with internal and external testing labs to provide clear guidance on reliability requirements, coordinate test schedule and logistics support, and assure proper execution.
? Lead root cause investigation with cross functional teams into reliability test failure and work closely with supplier and contract manufacturing partner to drive corrective actions.
? Report status of key projects to management.
? Review supplier validation test plan and provide feedback on test conditions, sample sizes, test duration, and test execution.
? Develop Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT), Burn-in Testing and Stress Screening (ESS/HASS) strategies, and monitor their proper execution and reporting at suppliers.
? Review and assess supplier proposed changes in manufacturing line, equipment, process, and location. Prescribe corresponding reliability validation and qualification plans. Desired skills:
? Experience working with reliability of electronics and complex electro-mechanical systems.
? Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes.
? Experience of working with suppliers to deploy reliability testing guidelines.
? Knowledgeable with quality and reliability statistics and metrics such as DPPM, Cpk, GR&R, MTBF/MTTF, FIT, Weibull Beta, etc.
? Familiarity with automotive related AEC, ISO, IEC, etc. components, materials and assemblies standards and specifications
? Knowledge of methods to design-in reliability for electronics.
? Knowledge and experience with HALT and HASS/ESS for electronic and/or electro-mechanical systems.
? Working knowledge of applied statistics and experience with statistical software such as JMP, ReliaSoft Synthesis Platform (including Weibull++, BlockSim, ALTA, RGA, and xFMEA), or equivalent.
? Knowledge of reliability warranty analysis and reliability prediction methods.
? Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-sectioning and EDX.
? ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer preferred.
Requirements
? Prefer BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics (EE) Engineering. Minimum requirement is a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
? Prefer 3-5 years of industry experience in a reliability engineering role. Level of Role depends on experience and qualifications.

? Master’s or PhD degree in Reliability Engineering
? Experience with PPAP process ? Experience in the automotive or consumer electronics industries ? Good English communication skills
