This Fiber Testing Engineer will be an integral member of the CommScope Global Quality & Reliability organization supporting HELIAX FIBER in Suzhou, China. Primary responsibilities include Design for Reliability and Testability and Product Performance Testing for Fiber products. Responsibilities include leading test plan development, test fixture design, data collection and analysis, and failure cause analysis associated to fiber products.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Familiar with Fiber testing IEC/GR standards, well understanding internal & external customer requirements. Experience on fiber reliability design and testing, could define testing items and criteria independently.
2. Well understanding the design structure/configuration of optic fiber connectors, fiber, fiber cable, splitter, WDM.
3. Solid experience on fiber testing hardware equipment operation (VIAVI, JGR, EXFO etc.), software configuration, optic module maintenance, multi-optic channels setting up and calibration.
4. Environmental & mechanical testing knowledge on thermal, humidity, salt mist, UV, tensile, flexibility, torsion, vibration, shock etc. Understanding the typical failure mechanism of each item.
5. Execution of fiber reliability testing Design fixtures for optic fiber testing for special mechanical testing requirements.
6. Plan and conduct Design Validation, Product Qualification and On-going Reliability Tests in conjunction with design and process team. Root cause analysis with CFT and co-work with engineering team for effective improvement.
7. Implement and institutionalize reliability best practices, initialize working instructions and testing procedures related to fiber reliability testing.
8. Analyze field reliability data to identify areas for improvement, document findings, and work with engineering to help determine actions such as RMA.
9. Other related activities assigned by manager
POSITION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s or above in Optical engineering, Telecommunication or a closely related field.
2. More than 3 years’ experience in fiber development, manufacturing, testing area.
3. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external customers and/or suppliers.
4. Familiar with VIAVI, JGR, EXFO Single Mode or Multi Mode equipment, data collection and analysis (Return Loss, Inspersion Loss, PDL etc.) Knowledge on Optic Splicing machine, OTDR is a plus.
