1SCOPE
1.1ScopeThisstandardprescribestestmethods,defectdefinitions,acceptancecriteria,andillustrationsforassessingthesolderability
ofelectroniccomponentleads,terminations,solidwires,strandedwires,lugs,andtabs.Thisstandardalsoincludesatestmethodfor
theResistancetoDissolution/DewettingofMetallization.Thisstandardisintendedforusebybothvendoranduser.
1.2PurposeSolderabilityevaluationsaremadetoverifythatthesolderabilityofcomponentleadsandterminationsmeetsthe
requirementsestablishedinthisstandardandtodeterminethatstoragehashadnoadverseeffectontheabilitytosoldercomponentsto
aninterconnectingsubstrate.Determinationofsolderabilitycanbemadeatthetimeofmanufacture,atreceiptofthecomponentsby
theuser,orjustbeforeassemblyandsoldering.
Theresistancetodissolutionofmetallizationdeterminationismadetoverifythatmetallizedterminationswillremainintact
throughouttheassemblysolderingprocesses
