AShockorVibrationFixtureisadevicethattypicallyinterfacesthevibrationshaker/shockmachineandthetestitem(s).Itsdesigncanvaryfromasimpleconfigurationtoacomplexdeviceduetovaryingshapesandsize,andmodelsproducedbydifferentdisplaysuppliers.Thereisnouniformfixtureordesignconfigurationtouseforvarioustypesofdisplayproducts.Usually,theyaredesignedspecificallyforatypicalsamplemodel.
Thefollowingistherecommendedguidelinesforafixturedesign:
1. Decidenumberoftestitemsmustbetestedatatime.
2. Definehowmanyaxilsofvibrationorshocktestsusingthisfixturearerequired.
3. Understandtheforcecapacityoftheshakerorthepayloadcapacityoftheshockmachineuponwhichthesetestsmustrun.
4. Definethetestrequirement:
• Usedforrandomorshocktests.
• Themaximumvibrationorshocktestlevels.
• Frequencyrange.(ThemaximumfrequencyrangeofHPspecificationsis500Hz)
5. Designrequirements:
• Vibrationorshockfixturesshouldbedesignedtohaveagooddynamicrigidityintherangeofthetestfrequency.Theutilizationofgeometricshapesasexhibitedbythecube,LandTresultinthegreatestpossiblerigidityand,therefore,allowforthesefixturestodemonstratethehighestpossiblenaturalfrequencies.Thedesigncriteria(seetheFIXTURESHOCKANDVIBRATIONTRANSMISSIBILITYREQUIREMENTSTable)foragooddynamicrigiditycanbemetbyfixture’saccelerationtransmissibilitytests.
• Fixture’saccelerationtransmissibility(AT)isdefinedasthevibrationaccelerationratioofthecontrolaccelerometerandtheresponsesaccelerometersatcontactlocationsbetweentestsampleandfixture.ThetransmissibilityrequirementsindBLOGscaleofashock/vibrationfixturearedefinedintheFIXTURESHOCKANDVIBRATIONTRANSMISSIBILITYREQUIREMENTSTable.Thefollowingfiguresshowthesamplesofaccelerationtransmissibilitycurvesforavibrationtestfixtureandashocktestsfixture.ThesefixturesmeetthecriteriaoftheFIXTURESHOCKANDVIBRATIONTRANSMISSIBILITYREQUIREMENTSTable.
• ItisimpracticaltotestallARonallcontactpointsbetweenfixtureandsample.However,HPrecommendtotesttheARatleast4pointsbetweentheminimumandthemaximumdistancefromcontrolaccelerometerlocations.
